(PEORIA, IL) Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at approximately 1:45 p.m. Peoria Police were dispatched to the 500 block of MacArthur on reports of male juveniles sitting on vehicles armed with guns.
When officers arrived, they did not locate any suspects.
During a search of the area, officers located and attempted to make contact with a group of juveniles in the 1300 block of SW Phoenix. Two males immediately fled the area on foot.
After a brief foot chase officers apprehended the two juveniles and placed them into custody without further incident.
During a search of the subject’s flight path officers located two discarded handguns. A third handgun was located at the original location.
The two juveniles were transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes and subsequently arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (3 counts) and Possession of a Handgun Under 21.
Both juveniles were transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
