(PEORIA, IL) Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at approximately 4:02 p.m. members of the Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID) conducted a traffic violation stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Bradley and Institute.
When officers approached the vehicle, they observed three adult males inside. All three subjects were detained without incident.
During a search of the males’ officers located two loaded handguns on two of the subject’s person. One of the handguns was reported stolen.
All three subjects were transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes. One of the subjects was released.
Two males identified as 25-year-old Anthony S. Campbell and 21-year-old Xavier A. Riley were subsequently arrested.
Campbell was arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, and Possession of a Firearm without a Valid FOID Card.
Riley was arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm without a Valid FOID Card.
Both men were transported to the Peoria County Jail.
