(PEORIA, IL) Sunday, January 15, 2023, at approximately 9:30 p.m. Peoria Police responded to a report of a Strong-Armed Robbery in the 1700 block of NE Jefferson.
(23-941) The victim told police he was approached by two males who attacked him and robbed him of some personal property. The victim sustained minor injuries.
During the investigation, officers observed 3 males in the area. When officers approached the males, they immediately fled on foot. After a brief foot chase officers apprehended and detained one of the males, a 17-year-old. Officers located and seized a .223 rifle the juvenile dropped during the foot chase.
During a search of the area officers also located a loaded handgun with an extended magazine and an unloaded rifle magazine.
A short time later officers located a second suspect that fled, a 16-year-old juvenile, who was hiding in the immediate area. The juvenile had a handgun on his person along with an extended magazine. The juvenile was placed into custody without further incident. The third suspect was not located.
The two juveniles were arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Resisting/Obstructing Police and Possession of a Handgun under 21-years old.
They were transported to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
The Strong-Armed Robbery is still under investigation.
