(PEORIA, IL) Saturday, March 23, 2024, at approximately 10:18 p.m. Peoria Police responded to the 3400 block of W. Fallen Oak on a call of a male shot.
When officers arrived, they located an adult male with a graze wound to his back.
This
victim’s injuries were non-life threatening. Officers also located another adult male with apparent gunshot wounds. This victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The deceased victim’s identity, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Peoria County Coroner.
Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Crime Scene Unit (CSU), and Patrol Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
This incident is under investigation.

UPDATE 3/25/24
During the course of this investigation, Peoria Detectives identified a suspect as 21-year-old Javier McGhee.
On Monday, March 25, 2024, at approximately 12:20 p.m. McGhee surrendered himself to Peoria Police.
McGhee was subsequently arrested for First Degree Murder.
He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
