Sunday, March 24, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m. Peoria Police responded to a Shot Spotter alert of 3 rounds fired in the 1300 block of N. Sheridan Road.
While en route to the above location, officers were advised that a gunshot victim was discovered in the 1400 block of N. Sheridan.
When
officers arrived, they located a 16-year-old male with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
During the course of this investigation, members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) observed a male suspect matching the description of the juvenile suspect in the area of Elizabeth and Sheridan. The suspect
immediately fled on foot when he saw officers approaching.
After a brief foot chase, the 16-year-old male was apprehended and taken into custody without incident.
The juvenile was then transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes and subsequently arrested for Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon Under 21, and No FOID.
He was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
