(PEORIA, IL) On Monday, April 8, 2024, at approximately 2:21 p.m. Peoria Police were dispatched to the intersection of Arago and Grinnell regarding an accident involving a vehicle and an electric scooter.
When officers arrived, they located the driver of the scooter, an adult male down. The male was immediately transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
During the investigation, officers determined the male on the scooter ran a stop sign while traveling westbound on Grinnell and collided with a vehicle traveling north on Arago. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Crime Scene Unit and Traffic Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
Further investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle, an adult female was cited for Suspended Registration, DUI, and Illegal Transportation of Alcohol. She also received a Notice to Appear.
This incident remains under investigation.
