Beginning at 6:45 am and lasting until approximately 10:30 am on Saturday, June 15, numerous intersections and roads throughout Downtown and the North Valley will be restricted due to the Steamboat Classic 15K/4-mile walk sponsored by ShaZam Racing.
Drivers should exercise caution and patience along the race route. The use of alternative routes is advised, and delays should be expected.
Race Route
Steamboat Classic runners will start near Jefferson Avenue on Main Street. Runners will race north on Main Street, east on Monroe Street, north on Abington Street, loop around the entrance of Glen Oak Park, head south on Abington Street, west on Madison Avenue, south on Main Street, and finish at Water Street.
Temporary Restricted Intersections: The Peoria Police Department will let drivers cross when the road is clear of participants.
• The intersection of Main Street and Adams Street will be temporarily restricted during the race. Approaching the intersection, traffic will be reduced down to one lane.
• The intersection of Main Street and Jefferson Avenue will be temporarily restricted during the race. Approaching the intersection, traffic will be reduced down to one lane.
Complete Road Closures: These roads will be closed during the race. Drivers will not be able to use these streets until after the race is completed.
• Water Street will be closed to through traffic at Liberty Street and Hamilton Boulevard.
• Main Street will be closed to through traffic at Washington Street, Madison Avenue, Monroe Street, and Perry Avenue.
• Hamilton Boulevard will be closed to through traffic at Perry Avenue, Monroe Street, Madison Avenue, and Jefferson Avenue.
• Fayette Street will be closed to through traffic at Perry Avenue, Monroe Street, and Madison Avenue.
• Spalding Avenue will be closed to through traffic at Adams Street, Jefferson Avenue, Madison Avenue, and Monroe Street.
• Bryan Street will be closed to through traffic at Jefferson Avenue, Madison Avenue, and Monroe Street.
• Hancock Street will be closed to through traffic at Madison Avenue and Monroe Street.
• Green Street will be closed to through traffic at Madison Avenue and Monroe Street.
• Wayne Street will be closed to through traffic at Madison Avenue and Monroe Street.
• Morgan Street will be closed to through traffic at Madison Avenue and Monroe Street.
• Evans Street will be closed to through traffic at Madison Avenue and Monroe Street.
• Morton Street will be closed to through traffic at Madison Avenue and Monroe Street.
• Voris Street will be closed to through traffic at Madison Avenue and Monroe Street.
• Spring Street will be closed to through traffic at Jefferson Avenue, Madison Avenue, Monroe Street, and Perry Avenue.
• Lavelle Street will be closed to through traffic at Madison Avenue and Monroe Street.
• Caroline Street will be closed to through traffic at Madison Avenue and Monroe Street.
• Mary Street will be closed to through traffic at Madison Avenue and Monroe Street.
• Cornhill Street will be closed to through traffic at Madison Avenue and Monroe Street.
• Hayward Street will be closed to through traffic at Madison Avenue and Monroe Street.
• Abington Street will be closed to through traffic at Jefferson Avenue, Madison Avenue, Monroe Street, and Perry Avenue.
• Perry Avenue will be closed to through traffic at Park Avenue.
• East Street will be closed to through traffic Frye Avenue.
• Prospect Road will be closed to through traffic at Frye Avenue.
