(PEORIA, IL) Friday, June 14, 2024, at approximately 2:38 p.m. members of the Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID) observed a wanted subject leaving a residence in the 500 block of Alexander, enter a vehicle and drive away.
Police observed the vehicle come to a stop in the 2200 block of W. Willow Knolls.
They
immediately made contact with the two male subjects inside.
During a search of the vehicle, officers located two loaded handguns inside a backpack the wanted subject had in his possession. One of the handguns was reported stolen. Another loaded handgun was located inside the vehicle.
The wanted subject identified as 25-year-old Lamell K. Carwell was transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes and subsequently arrested for Criminal Damage to Property, Domestic Battery, Theft, Disorderly Conduct,
Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (2 counts), Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (2 counts), Resisting Police, and an Active Warrant.
Carwell was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
The driver of the vehicle was released on the scene.
