(PEORIA, IL) Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at approximately 12:42 a.m. Peoria Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 3600 block of N. University.
When officers approached the vehicle, they made contact with the driver identified as 20-year-old Cartel J. Barnett.
During the stop, police found probable cause to search the vehicle where officers located a handgun with an extended magazine inside.
Barnett was taken into custody without incident and subsequently arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm without a Valid FOID Card, Unlawful Possession of Firearm Ammunition without a FOID Card, Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
Barnett was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
