(PEORIA, IL) Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at approximately 12:52 p.m. Peoria Police were dispatched to the 800 block of E. Virginia on a report of a person shot.
When officers arrived on the scene, they located an adult female (22 years old) with an apparent gunshot wound to the back. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The
suspect in this case was identified as 23-year-old Deandre Ward. Ward fled the scene prior to officers arriving.
Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Crime Scene Unit (CSU), and Patrol Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
During the course of this investigation, officers learned that Ward was at a local hospital. An adult female (22 years old) who had been stabbed in this incident also arrived at the hospital. The female sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Ward was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes. Ward was subsequently arrested for Attempted Murder.
Ward was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
