(PEORIA, IL) Thursday, July 11, 2024, at approximately 1:43 a.m. Peoria Police attempted to make a traffic stop at the intersection of Sterling Avenue and Newman.
The driver of the vehicle identified as 24-year-old Avierre J. Ross ignored the officer’s commands to pull over and continued to drive.
The
vehicle eventually came to a stop in the 2100 block of W. Gilbert Avenue.
Ross was detained while officers conducted a search of the vehicle.
During the search officers located a loaded handgun and magazine inside.
Ross was taken into custody and subsequently arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Fleeing/Eluding Police, and a Vehicle Violation.
He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
