(PEORIA, IL) Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at approximately 6:43 a.m. Peoria Police responded to the 3400 block of W. Oakcrest on a report of trouble with a male possibly armed with a rifle.
When officers arrived, they located the subject driving away. Police conducted a stop on the vehicle at Forrest Hill and Molleck and detained the two occupants inside.
During a search of the vehicle officers located a disassembled AR rifle and ammunition. The rifle was reported stolen.
The driver identified as 42-year-old Ronnie Winfield Jr. was subsequently arrested for Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (2 counts), and Possession of a Firearm without a Valid FOID Card.
Winfield was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
