(PEORIA, IL) Friday, July 26, 2024, at approximately 8:25 p.m. Peoria Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 2300 block of W. Proctor.
As the vehicle came to a stop officers observed multiple occupants exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot.
While chasing one of the subjects later identified as a 15-year-old male juvenile, officers observed a handgun on his person. The juvenile was eventually apprehended in the 2300 block of W. Marquette Street and taken into custody.
Officers also apprehended 20-year-old Lamarkee T. Edwards who fled from the vehicle.
During a check of the juvenile’s flight path officers located a discarded firearm and a loaded magazine in the 2400 block of W. Antionette Street.
Edwards was subsequently arrested for Obstructing Police and an Active Warrant. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
The juvenile was arrested for Obstructing Police, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Defacing Identification Marks on a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm without a Valid FOID Card.
He was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
