Previously Reported:
(PEORIA, IL) Saturday, August 10, 2024, at approximately 2:09 p.m. Peoria Police were dispatched to Perry and Wayne regarding an Aggravated Battery incident that occurred earlier.
When
officers arrived, they did not locate a victim.
While officers were at the above location, they were informed that an adult male was transported to a local hospital with a serious head injury.
Police conducted a search of the area where the assault occurred and located a crime scene.
The victim is listed in critical but stable condition.
There is currently no suspect information. This incident is under investigation.

UPDATE 8/13/24
During the course of this investigation, detectives identified 36-year-old Demetrius C. Herron as the suspect in this case.
On 8/12/24 at approximately 2:00 p.m. police located Herron outside a residence in the 600 block of Wayne Street.
Herron was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes.
Herron was subsequently arrested for Aggravated Battery and two Active Warrants.
He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
