Occupation: Monica Smith-Wallace is a talent acquisition manager for Caterpillar Inc. She leads a seven-person team that recruits candidates for intern or entry-level positions in accounting, finance, pricing, information technology, communications, human resources and environmental health and safety. Her team also partners with four HBCUs to enhance relationships and recruiting.   

 

Community Involvement: Ms. Smith-Wallace is a founding member of the Elizabeth Lindsay Davis chapter of the National Association of Colored Women. She volunteers for Heart of Illinois United Way, Impact Central Illinois, and A Mother’s Wish, which provides Christmas gifts to children of incarcerated mothers. She also serves on the Peoria City/County Joint Commission on Racial Justice and Equity.

 

Education: Bachelor of science, organizational communications, Bradley University

 

Three things she’s passionate about: Career development of others, mindfulness, family

 

Three favorite hobbies: Traveling, giving back, mixology

 

Career influence or inspiration: “I love talent development! I aspire to continue doing wonderful work in this space and expand my focus on career-readiness in my community. Being part of the beautiful Black and brown candidates I come across in my field of work feeds my passion. I’m blessed to be part of their career journey.”
