CHRISTOPHER RENDER

Band Director, Richwoods High School; Fine Arts Coordinator, Peoria Public Schools

 

Occupation: Christopher Render’s role at Peoria Public Schools includes directing the band at Richwoods High School and coordinating the school district’s fine arts program in instrumental music for all students in fifth-to-twelfth grades. He conducts Richwoods’ wind and jazz ensembles, as well as the marching and pep bands.

 

Community Involvement: President, jazz division of Illinois Music Education Association; Peoria Symphony board of directors; member of 33rd Illinois Volunteer Regiment Band (alto horn)?? , Prairie Wind  Ensemble (horn), Brass Band of Central Illinois, and Community Bible Fellowship Worship Team.

 

Education: Bachelor of music education, Stephen F. Austin State University; masters of music, conducting and horn, Illinois State University

 

Three things he’s passionate about: Christ, music and diversity in all genres of music including ‘classical’ and ‘jazz.’

 

Three favorite hobbies: Playing and performing music; family time; science fiction films  

 

Career influence and inspiration:   Mr. Render’s music professors have been his most influential and supportive mentors, including Fred J. Allen, Kevin Sedatole, Charles Gavin, and Ron Carter, along with is friend and colleague Wally Parks. “These mentors have opened many doors and windows for me to see the beauty in the music arts and how to share it with students. . .I also give thanks to God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for without his relationship, all is worthless. Praise Him, Amen!”
