The City of Peoria will hold an honorary street naming ceremony at noon on Thursday, March 5, in the Owens Center parking lot, 1019 W. Lake Ave. The honorary street naming will celebrate the Junior League of Peoria’s (JLP) 90th anniversary.
The ceremony will dedicate Lake Avenue from University Street to Knoxville Avenue as “Junior League Way.”
The unveiling commemorates a milestone in the organization’s history. On March 5, 1936, the Junior League of Peoria became an official member of the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI). For nine decades, JLP has remained committed to developing the potential of women and improving the Peoria community through effective action and leadership.
Mayor Rita Ali will offer remarks during the honorary designation, reflecting on the meaningful tribute to the generations of women who have dedicated their time, talents, and passion to strengthening the Peoria community.
The public and community partners are invited to attend the unveiling and join the Junior League of Peoria in honoring its longstanding impact and continued commitment to service.
