Office / Command Center

The command center looks different for everyone. For some people, it's a cubicle in an office building and for others, it's a room or corner in their house. No matter what your command center looks like, there are lots of things to recycle.

The Command Center Tour - What Is Recyclable?

Let's walk through your command center for the most common items we'll find.

  • Paper from mail and envelopes, printer paper, magazines and flyers, and sticky notes
  • Pages of used notebooks and cardboard notebook covers
  • Cardboard boxes from items like facial tissues, writing utensils, packaging, and storage
  • Plastic containers such as drink bottles and food containers

How to Recycle in the Command Center

You might already have a trash bin in your command center. To make recycling quick and easy, just add a bin for recycling next to your trash can. Once the bin is full you can empty it into your recycling cart for pick up.

For specific materials, follow these steps.

  • Glass and plastics
    • Give them a quick rinse
    • Leave the labels on
    • Throw the pump dispenser in the trash
  • Boxes
    • Flatten, even the smaller ones, to make sure you have plenty of space in your cart

What Isn't Recyclable?

  • Used up writing utensils such as pencils, highlighters, pens, crayons, and markers
  • Facial tissues and napkins
  • Plastic bags
  • E-waste and batteries

When In Doubt, Throw It Out

Remember, if you're not sure if an item is recyclable, throw it out. This helps keep our recycling clean and free of materials that cannot be recycled.
