The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) makes sure that designated historic districts throughout the city keep their character and heritage. The HPC also approves new historic districts and landmarks.
Any renovations or changes made to homes in these districts require a Certificate of Appropriateness from the HPC. The owner must apply and appear before the HPC to make sure all changes to the property will maintain the historic character of the neighborhood.
The HPC meets quarterly on the 4th Wednesday of the month. Applications for a Certificate of Appropriateness or Landmark and District Designation are due one month in advance of the meeting.
