Recycling, yard waste, and trash collection are provided to Peoria residential customers through a contract with GFL Environment (GFL). The collection fee is on your annual Peoria County Real Estate Tax Bill. The City's Refuse fee ordinance determines the type of residences covered by the city's contract - single-family, multi-family, and condominiums.

Single-Family and Multi-Family (Duplex, Triplex, Quadplex)
- Trash - Unlimited weekly collection (one 95-gallon cart provided) and bulky waste
- Recycling - Every other week collection (up to two 95-gallon carts)
- Yard Waste - Every week collection from mid-March to mid-December
Condominium
- Trash - Unlimited weekly collection (one 95-gallon cart provided) and bulky waste
- Recycling - Every other week collection (up to two 95-gallon carts)
- Yard Waste- No collection provided by the city

Residential Fee for Services
Collection fees appear on the annual Peoria County Real Estate Tax Bill as "Garbage Fee." This is a fee-for-service that every residence through the City's ordinance, Section 13-60 Refuse Fee.
2022 Annual Fee Amounts
The fee is for the number of units, not current occupancy. Covered residences include:
- Single-family - $276
- Duplex - $552
- Triplex - $828
- Quadplex - $1,104
- Condominiums - $120 (no yard waste services)
