File a Police Report

Many common non-emergency crimes can be reported online. The City of Peoria's Online Citizen Reporting System allows you to submit a police report immediately and print a temporary copy of the report for free. Please note: you must have a valid email address to submit an online report.
The following incidents may be self-reported to the Peoria Police Department:
- Assault (Unknown suspect and no domestic relationship with the offender)
- Battery (No injury, unknown suspect, and no domestic relationship with the offender)
- Burglary from Motor Vehicle
- Criminal Damage to Property
- Criminal Damage to Vehicle
- Criminal Defacement/Vandalism
- Deceptive Practices
- Forgery
- Gas Station Drive Off
- Harassing/Annoying Phone Calls, Messaging, or Texting
- Identity Theft
- Lost Property
- Retail Theft
- Supplemental Reports
- Theft
- Theft of Services
- Unlawful Use of Credit/Debit Card
- Unlawful Visitation or Parenting Time Interference
Online reporting may NOT be used to report lost/stolen license plates or firearms. Please contact the Peoria Police Department at (309) 673-4521.
*Domestic violence is not a self-reportable crime.* Any person who hits, chokes, kicks, threatens, harasses, or interferes with the personal liberty of another family or household member has broken Illinois Domestic Violence law. Under Illinois law family or household members are defined as:
- Family members who are related by blood or marriage.
- Individuals who are married or formerly married.
- Individuals who share or used to share a home, apartment, or other common dwelling.
- Individuals who have a child in common or a blood relationship through a child in common.
- Individuals who are engaged, dating or formerly dating (This includes same sex couples).
- Individuals with disabilities and their personal assistants.
Please confirm the following to find out if online report filing is right for you:
- This is NOT an emergency.
- You are 18 years of age or older.
- This is NOT a child abduction.
- This incident occurred inside the City of Peoria geographical limits.
- There are NO identifiable suspects.
- There was no physical evidence left behind (blood, clothing, or tools used to commit the crime).

Filing a false police report is a Class 4 Felony under Illinois law (720 ILCS 5/26-1(4): A person is filing a false report if they; transmit or cause to be transmitted in any manner to any peace officer, public officer or public employee a report to the effect that an offense will be committed, is being committed, or has been committed, knowing at the time of the transmission that there is no reasonable ground for believing that the offense will be committed, is being committed, or has been committed.
